Tokyo Tours
There are a number of different Tokyo tours you can take within the Big T itself.
Our list includes leisurely walking tours, a cruise down the Sumida river, and a birds eye view of Tokyo at night in a helicopter. It would be a shame to come here and miss out on some of the opportunities available! Have fun planning : )
Tokyo City Tours - Helicopter Cruises
Tokyo Helicopter Cruises - A helicopter ride over Tokyo is a great way to take in the enormity of this city and grab a thrill at the same time.
If you time it right you can catch the sunset as you fly out over Tokyo Bay or, if you prefer, wait till it's dark to see the city night lights in all their glory.
Tokyo City Tours - Hato Bus
Hato Bus - The Tokyo tour choices provided by Hato Bus let you forget about the hassle of getting from A to B. There are plenty of programs to choose from including a Ninja tour and a Japanese tea tour.
Tours are supported by English speakers and usually food and any other costs are included in the tour price. Make sure to check when you book.
In case you're wondering this is not about getting on a bus and staying on a bus! The bus takes you to where the activites take place and then brings you back to Tokyo.
Tokyo City Tours - Walking
Walking Tours - the Japan National Tourist Agency (JNTO) has put together a really excellent guide of Tokyo walks that you can easily organize without the need for a guide or tour company.
If you fancy going a little further afield and doing something a little more strenuous, head to the hills that surround Tokyo about an hour away. Mount Takao is a popular area about an hour away from the city center.
Don't like the crowds? Try the hills a little further to the west on the Odakyu Line.
Tokyo City Tours - Sumida River Cruise
Sumida River Cruise - Take a Tokyo river cruise and follow the old route of trade and commerce to Edo, the old name for Tokyo, as you make your way along the river.
You can stop off at various attractions along the way including Sensoji Temple at Asakusa and Odaiba.
Tokyo City Tours - Kabuki Theater Experience
Kabuki Theater and Noh Theater Tours - If you're looking for a more traditional Tokyo activity, why not try a Kabuki or Noh theater tour?
Both types of theater are completely different and have their roots in historical stories and events.
English guidance is available so you don't need to worry about whether you'll be able to understand what's going on.
Tokyo City Tours - Grand Sumo Tournament
Sumo Tour - Explore Ryogoku and it's sumo stables. If you're here at the right time of year spend a day at the Grand Sumo Tournament and experience a slice of geniune Japanese culture. This is one of my favourite days out in Tokyo so it comes highly recommended.
If you think we've missed something that should be included on this list, please let us know. We've tried to cover all the bases but, being human and all that, we're bound to miss something.
