Tokyo Shopping - Shibuya

Shibuya Shopping - Well-known for its cool and trendy styles, Shibuya is also famous for its Tokyo shopping scene including Tokyu Hands, 109 and the eternally funky Loft.

There's also a supersize version of the bargain shop Don Quijote which is always worth a look see - especially for the uninitiated!

Just be ready to put your head down and go for it as you join the hordes that love a good old rummage here. Open Hours 10am-2am daily.

Shinjuku Shopping

Shinjuku Shopping - Shinjuku is a mega hub on the Yamanote Line, the land of giant department stores both above and below ground.

Notable stores include Lumine, Isetan, and the massive Times Square complex.

Shinjuku East Exit from the station will take you to Kabukicho while the well-known meeting place Studio Alta is directly facing you as you walk out.

The South Exit takes you to the Times Square area where you can easily spend all day window shopping or emptying your wallet!

Odaiba Shopping

Odaiba Shopping - Odaiba provides a futuristic and funky backdrop against which to make your purchases. All the usual suspects are here along with an indoor market hall inside the Decks.

Tokyo shopping takes on another dimension in Odaiba with museums, a giant ferris wheel, cat and dog cafes, Toyota Megaweb, and spectacular views of Rainbow Bridge all thrown in for good measure.

Need a break from the cash register? There's plenty to choose from.

Ginza Shopping

Ginza Shopping - Ginza has a particular image all its own. Designer shops and Tokyo fashion meet in an upmarket boutique kind of way. If you like your brands then a visit to Ginza is a must.

There is some great window shopping and people watching to be done, especially in summer when tables and chairs are provided so you can sit down and watch the world go by when your feet get the highstreet throb!

Akihabara Shopping

Akihabara Shopping - Akihabara is the place to go if you're hungry for that electronic gadget you've been wanting or the latest anime character to make it big.

Laox has a great duty free section with electronic goods that will work overseas and there are plenty of other shops to browse around in the search for the ultimate bargain.

If your Tokyo shopping agenda includes some cosplay items, Akihabara, as well as Harajuku, should be on your places to visit list.

Tokyo Mega Shopping Sites and Buildings

  • Roppongi Hills - a complex of offices, apartments, restaurants, art galleries and shops, this is a mini city inside the city.
  • Tokyo Midtown - opened in 2007, this complex is set to rival it's neighbour, Roppongi Hills, in luxury and opulence.
  • Omotesando Hills - created an uproar when it was first unveiled as it's construction required the demolition of a famous historical area of Tokyo. Now this is a bustling shopping hub.
  • Ikebukuro Sunshine City - has been a Tokyo shopping site for a number of years now. Again this is a mega site with lots of other Tokyo attractions to distract and entertain you.
  • Ebisu Shopping - Ebisu Garden Place combines brand names and smaller vendors in a unique and stylish way. You can also get a Balinese massage if you get tired!
