Spring Festival In Tokyo

Springtime is one of my favorite times in Tokyo - and Japan. This video was shot right before the period of hanami. The cherry trees you see in bloom on this page are not actually spring cherries but winter cherry trees.

The artist you can see in the video was lovely. He happily talked about his drawing and talk with us about the different blossom.

It's kind of weird being in the middle of this gorgeous garden and seeing the city buildings rising up behind. The Docomo tower is very distinctive as are some of the other buildings that make up the Shinjuku skyline.

We were also lucky enough to see a sakura girl in her kimono for her photo shoot. We didn't want to intrude but I'm always fascinated by kimonos so I took a few shots from a distance.
