Saw Mountain - Nokogiri-yama In Chiba Day Trip From Tokyo

If you're looking for a day trip from Tokyo then Saw Mountain or Nokogiri-yama in Chiba is relatively easy to get to. We decided to visit at the end of our new year holiday before we went back to work. It was a fantastic day out!

We were using our seichun juhachi kippu (special discount train tickets in Japan) so we could only travel on local or rapid trains. It took us 3 hours to get there but going slow meant we had the chance to see the scenery on the way - as well as it being a great cheap way to travel!

Check out the crazy overhang called Jigoku-nozoki (a peep at Hell in Japanese). That is a scary place to be!

We also loved the big buddha but there's a lot of steps to get there! You can get up the mountain by ropeway - it's much easier than walking but you still need to make your way round to the different places on the mountain. Be warned that it's up and down countless stairs so don't do this one if you don't like exercise.
