Ever wondered what the Japanese bullet train is like? I love the shinkansen and although it's expensive, it's well worth the cost.
This is a video of the trains passing through Maibara station as we made our way back from a trip to Hiroshima. We used the 18 kippu ticket to get this far but it was cold and we were tired so we took the shinkansen for the last leg. It was heaven!
Take a look at the tracks in this video. It's the first time I've seen this but we think they were spraying de-icer onto the tracks as it was really cold that day and there was some pretty heavy snow outside the station.
We got to see some great scenery as we rode through the snow. Our train did arrive late at Shinagawa station though! An unheard of event on the Japanese bullet train. It was only a few minutes but the snow clearly made an impact on the speed of the Japanese bullet train on this particular occasion.
