Train Travel Japan
Need some Japan travel information deals for getting around outside Tokyo? Here's some you might like:
- Japan Rail Pass - This lovely rail pass gets you up to 3 weeks travel at a very good price on any JR trains including the shinkansen. It also includes some buses and ferries. At first glance it may seem expensive but if you take the time to work out how much an individual journey would cost on the shinkansen you'll see you can potentially save a fortune. Definitely check this one out and decide if you want to use it during your stay.
- JR East Pass - Like the Japan Rail Pass the JR East Pass is only available if you're traveling on a Japan tourist visa. Also like the Rail Pass you can buy it for different lengths of time depending on how long you will be here. For all the Japan travel information about this pass just follow the link above.
- Best Train Travel Japan Deal - Next up is one of the sweetest train travel Japan deals we know of. It's unlikely you'll search for it though as it's a Japanese name you've probably never heard of! It's called Seishun Ju-Hachi Kippu which literally translates into youthful 18 ticket. Although it sounds as though there's an age limitation on this there actually isn't and anybody can buy this, tourist or not. Follow the link to see what it's all about.
- World Heritage Pass - If you want to visit Nikko this 2 day pass gets you into the most famous sightseeing shrines and temple, let's you use the local bus an unlimited number of times on specified routes, and includes your train fare from Tokyo to Nikko and back. Not a bad Japan travel information deal!
- Odakyu Freepass - This pass is organized by the Odakyu railway and includes some of the most famous spots covered by their lines. You choose which pass you want to buy according to where you want to visit. Three of our favorites are the Hakone Freepass, the Kamakura Freepass and the Iza Peninsula Freepass. Each pass has special extras specific to the area you're visiting like discounted entry to attractions or free rides on the local buses. Make sure you check exactly what each pass includes so you don't end up paying for something you don't need to!
