Getting To Shinjuku Gyoen (Park)

by Honor
(Tokyo)

This was a beautiful spring day that I went to Shinjuku Gyoen with my good friend Shane from the Nihon Sun. She makes a cameo appearance at the end of this video but I was learning when I made this video and I cut her off a little too soon - sorry Shane!

Shinjuku station can be confusing so be careful when you are looking for the right exit. There are 3 possible South exit gates! The South Exit, the New South Exit and the New South East Exit. It's the South Exit you want. Just follow the signs as you can see in the video and turn left out of the station.

You'll cross the pedestrian bridge that you can see - check out the funky video boards on the buildings. It's funny, even after living here for 8 years I still love the tech magic in the city.

Cross the bridge you'll go past some smaller shops on your left until you come to a major intersection. You cross this junction going straight ahead and then turn right and cross again. So you're going to be diagonally opposite where you start from at the crossing. You can see the entrance gates from here so it's just a case of buying your tickets from the machines and off you go.

If you stop by the visitor center they have information about what plants are in bloom as well as a stamp for kids to play with so they can take away a memory they've made during their visit.

It's a beautiful garden inside - but that's another video : )
